Homemade Deep Conditioner

Homemade deep conditioner is a good way to save costs while giving your hair the best treatment. People with type 3 or type 4 hair have been told over and over again about the importance of deep conditioning our hair due to its dry nature.

But what happens when your favorite deep conditioner is out of stock or you currently can’t afford the deep conditioner that works with your hair? You DIY it.

Other times you just want to make your own deep conditioner and that’s okay. Today I will be sharing deep conditioner recipes with you. Ensure you follow the recipe carefully and you stick to the size of the measurement.

Moisturizing Deep Homemade Conditioner

This particular DIY conditioner will leave your hair feeling soft and moisturized. This treatment should be done on freshly shampooed hair. (that has been rinsed though)

Ingredients

  • Vitamin E (1 capsule or 5 liquid drops)
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • 2 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 4 tablespoon of mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)

These measurements are for deep conditioning a medium length hair in one go, if your hair is shorter you can half the measurements in the deep conditioner recipe. This recipe can only last for a few hours and it must be refrigerated.

How to make

  • Put all the ingredients in a bowl and mix till it becomes smooth.

For a thicker mixture add an extra spoon of mayonnaise.

To apply

  • Divide your hair into sections.
  •  Take a section and apply the mixture to the hair ends first then work your way up.
  • Do the same for other sections and repeat the process by applying on the hair ends first then working your way up gradually to the shaft.
  • Leave the conditioner in your hair for 20 minutes and cover your hair with a shower cap.
  • Properly rinse your hair.

Greek Yogurt, Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) and Honey Homemade Deep Conditioner

This deep conditioning treatment should be done on dry hair.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup of Greek yogurt
  • 2-3 drops of essential oil(like lavender)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar(ACV)

How to make

  • Mix all ingredients in a bowl till it becomes smooth and even.

To apply

  • Apply the mixture to your hair.
  • Cover your hair with a shower cap for at least an hour and maximum of three hours.
  • Properly rinse the mixture out of your hair then shampoo and/ condition your hair as usual.

Egg and olive oil deep conditioner

This deep conditioner is provides sufficient nourishment for people with high porosity and damaged hair.

Ingredients

  • 1 egg yolk(separate from egg whites)
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil

How to make

  • Mix ingredients together until it is an even mixture.

To apply

  • Apply the mixture to your hair.
  • Cover your hair with a shower cap for at least an hour and a maximum of three hours.
  • Rinse with lukewarm or cool water to avoid eggs cooking on your hair.
  • Properly rinse the mixture out of your hair then shampoo and/ condition your hair as usual.

Remember that you can adjust the measurements to suit your hair length, you can double or half the ingredients to make them more suited to you.

Aloe Vera Gel and coconut oil deep conditioner

Aloe vera gel is that transparent gluey substance found in the aloe vera leaf. This deep conditioner keeps your hair dandruff-free, moisturized and increase hair length retention.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup of aloe vera gel
  • 2 tablespoons of coconut oil

How to make

  • Mix ingredients together until it is a smooth mixture.

To apply

  • Apply the mixture to your hair.
  • Cover your hair with a shower cap for at least an hour and maximum of three hours.
  • Properly rinse the mixture out of your hair then shampoo and/ condition your hair as usual.

Banana and honey homemade deep conditioner

This use of this deep conditioner promotes hair growth and a healthy scalp.

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 tablespoon of honey

How to make

  • Mix ingredients together until it is an even mixture.

To apply

  • Apply the mixture to your hair.
  • Cover your hair with a shower cap for at least an hour and a maximum of three hours.
  • Properly rinse the mixture out of your hair then shampoo and/ condition your hair as usual.
