Have you ever thought of homemade shampoo? Perhaps after hearing things like “B ingredient is harmful to your hair don’t use shampoos containing B ingredient” and you search for a shampoo that doesn’t have B ingredient only to find out that it has C ingredient which is also not good for your hair. Then you are like ‘So what do I use to wash my hair then’?
Or in your case with all the warnings about using shampoos that have sulphate in them you can’t find a single shampoo in your area that is sulphate-free, what do you do then? Or you run out of shampoo at a bad time?
Well, how about making your own shampoo, I can hear you say ‘but I don’t know how to make shampoo’ well that’s the purpose of today’s article. The nicest part about making your own shampoo is that you are certain of the shampoo ingredients.
Did you know the most common ingredients for making DIY shampoo can be found in your kitchen? Let’s make shampoo!!.
Baking Soda Shampoo plus Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)
Ingredients
- 2 Tablespoons of Baking soda also known as sodium bicarbonate
- 1 Tablespoon of ACV
- 2 cups of water
Steps to make Baking Soda shampoo
- Mix the baking soda with a cup of water and put it away in a container. You can put the mixture in a bottle and shake it well to ensure it is mixed properly. (You use this first)
- Mix the ACV with a cup of water and put in a separate container. Mix it well. (This will be used as a conditioning rinse.)
How to use
- Apply the baking soda mix directly to your scalp and massage the mix gently into your scalp for about a minute or more.
- Rinse the baking soda mix from your hair with water.
- Apply the ACV mix to your hair and massage your scalp and hair gently with this mix.
- After massaging the mix into your hair for about two minutes you can rinse your hair with water.
After these steps feel free to condition your hair and style it as you wish.
Important Note
When washing your hair with the baking soda mix focus on cleansing your scalp, not hair strands. Use this particular homemade shampoo and conditioner on your hair only once or thrice in a year. (Yes you read that right so this mix is for when you have run out of shampoo and you need shampoo fast. This mix shouldn’t be used like regular shampoo)
